    Golden Quadrilateral highway project: UPA govt bent rules to help private sector

    Even as the Golden Quadrilateral project was under execution, in 2005-06 the UPA regime decided to steal the thunder and proposed six-laning 6,500 km—some 5,700 km of GQ plus some high-density traffic corridors—at an estimated cost of Rs 41,210 crore.
